| A transmitter operating
intermittently on 146.565 MHz has been hidden in the
Southern California area. Find it. It should
be heard at most all "high" places in the LA basin.
The purpose of this hidden transmitter
and the supporting web page is to invite people to join
into to wonderful world of transmitter hunting. This
sport has been in existence for several decades and is a
lot of fun.
The "usual" hunts are most every Saturday and are
competitive and although many attempts have been made,
are not too inviting to the beginner. This GeoHunt
allows you to try some techniques and tricks without
being in a competition. Also the transmitter is
not hidden to trick or fool you too much and has
vertical polarization and consistent performance. It is
low power and has a low duty cycle so that alone will
make the hunting challenging.
The transmitter is a "SQUAWKBOX" running 50 milliwatts
into a ribbon cable J-Pole. It is powered by
rechargeable batteries and will soon be solar powered. |
