GeoTran7 is on. In fact it is on twice. I picked it up in La Habra Hills and planted it about 11:45 AM today. I then went on to other things about 15 miles away and had lunch. At 12:30 I got a phone call from the site that I had to remove it. So I went back and guess what...It had been found by that Dave-devil. I moved it and left again. So Dave can just go and find it again. It is in a much worse spot and might be an issue just to hear it.
Geotran 6 was hid on Skyline west of the intersection of Fullerton Rd and East Rd. at the water tank. It was planted May 6th and found as follows:
N6MJN 5/12 5:PM FTF N6AIN 5/16 12:pm KC6TNJ/WA6TQQ 1:PM W6ARK 5/19 10:AM N6UZS 5/24 5:PM

I think we have another GeoHider... -------------------- Jay, This may help a little
Dick WB4SUV
If you live in New England and have some time to spare, the W1HFN hidden TX will be deployed this Sat, 15 Nov at the Cowdrie Nature Center in Lunenburg, MA.
The fox is a WB6EYV "SquawkBox" (thanks Bob) in a metal case wrapped in camo tape. It transmits on 146.565 with a 20 sec. voice ID every three minutes. There will be a log to sign under it, so please record your find. The batteries will power the fox for over 10 days, so it will be left there until next Sat.
Pleae check my web site at: http://home.comcast.net/~foxbw/site/ Click on the Photos link for a pic of the fox and an aerial view of the Center. The parking area is located on Rte 2A (called Massachusetts Ave. in these parts) If you were to go to GoogleMaps and enter 1750 Massachusetts Ave, Lunenburg, MA 01462 it will put you right at the parking area.
Good luck to all
73, Barry - W1HFN

Way cool, I just happen to be nearby. Is this fox a "find it whenever, runs intermittently" type of thing? If so are there more details such as frequency and duty cycle? Google comes up empty on "Cowdrie Nature Preserve", is there another name for the area?

Found it in 25 minutes after leaving home. Didn't realize it was going to be such an easy hunt and drove straight to it. Cannot really hear that well coming in from the southeast. Extra bonus is that I've been to this location back in the late 80s because my old friend N6OGM had a 440 repeater in a nearby house.
P.S. All those previous bearings I posted are accurate with the exception of the one from Skyline/Acacia which appears to be a slight bounce. Thanks again Jippy! I was the 5th to sign in.

While out on the reg. Sat nite hunt tonight I grabbed a few bearings on GT6.
Skyline/Acacia, 350 true, S5 Whittier Blvd/Euclid, due north true, S1 Valley View/I-5, 45 true, S9+
Also heard it in the most unusual of places on Harbor Blvd. at the base of the hills below Valencia Mesa Dr. almost due north-ish.
Didn't hear it anymore when I got on Hacienda and crested over to Colima.
We will return soon to finish it off.

ARK reports 45 true from Garden Grove. We hooked up the quad at ground level and cannot copy a thing yet the G-6 on the roof hears it S1-S2 in the noise. And no I wasn't using my numb scanner. P.S. Might be out Saturday with your window mounted yagi. Keep your fingers crossed.

Dave...you were ready. GT-6 is nowhere near you and yet you found it an hour after I announced it was moved.
Maybe we shuld have another transmitter to see who can find it first. Or maybe after they find it they move it...NAW, this is better for attracting new hunters.

I can hear GT6 in Orange about S1. No bearing just yet but working on it. Can't believe Dave actually logged his find here.

Martin you were quite right. But I just moved it today...
GeoTran 5 was located on Hawthorne Blvd at Via Mirlo near Palos Verdes on April 7, 2009 and removed today.
The following hunters signed in:
N6AIN 4/12/09 9:30AM FTF W6ARK 4/14/09 7:00 AM N6MJN Sometime saturday WA6TQQ/KC6TNJ 5/9/09 1:07 PM
I forgot to clean the solar panel so if a tall person can find it please wash off the dirt..
