GeoTran 6 is now on the air for your hunting pleasure. Be sure to post where you can hear it so others can get started.

I hear Geo T5 slightly east of south from here in El Segundo. That makes it somewhere between me and Palos Verdes, assuming that's not a bounce. The signal strength is moderate, not weak and yet not strong.

Visual as I came off a hill after taking a bearing.
I may have used Denver time on my log-in. I left home at 6:30 AM and found it at 7:37 AM, local time.

During the week there aren't any scheduled hunts. JPI's box is shielded from Cal Poly so what you might be hearing is the other box that KG6LSE put up over in the foothills somewhere along the 210. Ironically the last GeoTran WAS above Cal Poly back in Feb or so.
I'm not sure what it sounds like but he post a message in the main message board at www.thunter.org.
You can call or send a text at the number at the bottom of this message he posted:
"hello all I have a small T that is AC powered that will be on during the week you cant get to it but you can vector it
its 2 watts but I know it wont go far as where its placed...
it has a "close encounters of the 3rd kind" ring to it ..
if you think you found it call me at 909-634-4250.. TXT is also ok. 73s KG6LSE

Im trying to get into the RDF stuff, At Cal Poly Pomona on top of the 6 story parking garage, i heard a transmission on the 146.565 mhz that sounded like a brief siren, then fast morse code (couldnt read it fast enough) followed by another brief siren. This transmission repeated every 45 seconds or so. Is this a common interference for this area?
Thank you, KI6KCW

I knew there was some reason I didn't get there on Tuesday. I was preparing to go this morning, but now you have spoiled that.

I will try to get over there today. I need to change the sign in sheet and get GeoTran III signins published anyway.

Found it at 12:03 on 3/11/09. Started around 9:00 from Garden Grove, OC, and the traffic wasn't easy getting to the area. Lots of hills and bounces. No map other than the GPS.

I can't hear it at home in Burbank at all (not surprising).
However, from a RB on the north east side of PV it's a lot louder than the last location.
