Deryl and Steve's Story

I picked up Steve at the Aliso Creek underpass on the 73, to avoid being charged twice for using the toll road, at about 8:00am. After a circuitous rout to and over the 74 we arrived at the restaurant and had breakfast with the rest of the hunters.

At 10:00 am we were off to hid our Ts. Heading west on Rancho California Road we looked at the map book and decided to go south on Via Santa Rosa. At Via Tornado we went left and all the way to a locked gate. I put my T1 there locked to the gate post.

Heading back out we turned right on Camino Estribo. Going east we saw a dirt road off to the left and up for a short distance. We place my squawkbox T in a crack in the ground to the right of the dirt road. It wasn’t very strong but could be heard back down on the paved road.

We continued around on Estribo where it came to a turnout on the right near the intersection of Via Gorrion. I put out my GQ micro T in a hole to the right of the road. It could be hear miles away so no reason it wouldn’t be found if you come along the road.

Continuing on around, the road turns to dirt. About an eighth of a mile on Steve puts out his GQ micro T, next to a power pole to the right of the road.

The Road goes down hill now for a ways where another dirt road goes off to the left and up to some trees. I put my T2 in a bush there. This one, running 2 watts should be heard from anywhere in Temecula and beyond.

Back on Estribo, we go on down to flat ground where it becomes Pujol street. At a BMX race cores Steve puts out his Squawkbox in a bush. This is our last T to hid.

It’s still a few minutes before 11 but we can already hear Ts, other than ours, on the air so off we go hunting.
