A early evening trip to Timberline Lodge.

After the Mt Hood train ride, I left my hotel around 4:40 pm Sunday the 11th  for a drive up to this famous lodge.  I left my daughter at the hotel to rest from dragging her all around Oregon over the past few days.  Not to mention the parties going on. :)   Tipsy comes to mind.

I arrived at the lodge around 5:50 pm and back to the hotel by 7:35 pm.   A quick drive up and back from Hood River.

I could not stand back far enough to take a picture of this massive structure. This fireplace is huge, must be 8 foot tall and 5 foot wide. A fireplace on both sides to keep it very warm in the winter.  This stone structure is 80 foot tall and 15 foot wide at the base.
I had to take two pictures of this sign on the fireplace. The camera flash reflected so well.

I could not capture the entire fireplace.

The last tree line before you found snow, dirt, rocks and Mt Hood's base at the lodge.

Two pictures of Mt Hood.  I used a different focus on the camera.  Can you see a difference?

Below is Mt Jefferson.  The left picture was taken from the balcony on the 2nd floor of the lodge with no zoom. The second picture was taken at full optical 6x zoom. (I like my camera)  Kodak DX4900   All these pictures were taken at full resolution 4.0 MP

I filled up my memory card at this point and did not have an empty spare.  Bummer!
